Your phone is a candidate for glass only replacement if ONLY the glass on your screen is broken.  This means that you can still see the full screen behind the cracked glass (much like looking at a picture through a broken glass frame).  If you screen is black or “bleeding” (shows a rainbow of colors coming from a crack) you will need to replace the entire screen.

All of of our glass only repairs are carried out in a dust and static free area, using original factory glass, tools and adhesives.  iRepair Savannah can complete glass only replacements on the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 / S4 and Note 2 same day in many cases.  The repair process takes 3-4 hours from start to finish, depending on the model phone and the condition of the glass.

An important consideration when choosing glass only repair is your screens appearance.   Even using the most gentle processes, scratches are possible when dealing with broken glass.  The vast majority of these are hidden by the factory adhesive, however it is possible in some cases to see scratches when the phone is on a bright white or completely black screen. Their are three main reasons the iPhone 5 screen is so much more…

The iPhone 4 and 4S displays are made by Samsung. Due to Apple and Samsung now being big competitors in the mobile phone business, Apple decided to have Sharp produce the displays for the iPhone 5.  Sharp does not have the manufacturing capacity that Samsung does.  Apple buys most of the screens to put into new iPhone 5′s, thus leaving a much smaller supply for repairs.

The size of the iPhone 5 screen is also a factor in the cost. The larger surface area is harder to manufacture and produces more waste then the smaller iPhone 4S screen.  Finally, the iPhone 5 users a new type of touch screen technology, this also adds to the cost.
